Horseback Riding:
We offer the best horseback riding experiences in the Central Valley.
Our horseback rides take place entirely within our property. The guided tours offer breathtaking views and the peace and freedom of the mountains in the highlands of Naranjo. With 22 years of experience in the field, we guarantee a safe and unforgettable adventure.
Enjoy the rural experience of horseback riding and appreciate nature from a unique perspective. Our horseback rides must be booked at least one day in advance. We provide certified helmets, and we also have an INS Civil Liability Insurance Policy, so only guests over the age of 5 are allowed to ride.
Option 1: Los Duendes Sector – 2 km:
Our clients’ favorite! This route includes pastures, scenic landscapes, forests with giant fig trees, and cultivated areas.
Rate: ₡11,000 per person.
Option 2: Dueño de Monte Sector – 4 km:
Recommended for guests over 8 years old. This tour covers pastures, cultivated fields, two different types of forests, reforestation areas, rural landscapes, and stunning views of the Central Valley and the Gulf of Nicoya.
Rate: ₡14,000 per person.
Trails and Walks on Our Property:
Rancho Amalia is located within a 7 km hiking route that includes forests, pastures, and cultivated areas.
Access to our property is completely free for hotel guests, restaurant visitors, and horseback riding participants. Visitors coming only for self-guided hikes must pay an entrance fee:
Rate: ₡1,000 per person.
Ruta de Gigantes Trail:
Perfect for those with little hiking experience or families looking for a pleasant time in the woods.
This self-guided trail includes eight interconnected giant fig trees.
Distance: 1 km
Difficulty: Easy
Dueño de Monte Sector:
This route can also be done on foot. We recommend stopping at the pasture to enjoy the peaceful countryside and listen to the birds singing. The protected and regenerating mountainous areas inspired the name "Dueño de Monte" (Owner of the Forest), referring to a benevolent spirit who protected nature.
Distance: 4 km
Difficulty: Easy, but some physical condition is required due to the distance.
La Llorona Sector:
Perfect for those starting their hiking training, this trail includes the Barranca River — where some claim to have heard the legendary "La Llorona" crying amidst the river’s murmur. You’ll also enjoy fairytale-like cypress landscapes in the distance.
Distance: 7 km
Difficulty: Medium-Easy — some physical condition is required for the distance and terrain.
Guided Hikes:
For those looking for a unique experience, we offer guided hikes at special times, such as sunrise, sunset, and nighttime walks. You’ll have the chance to spot wildlife or enjoy different sensory experiences compared to daytime hikes. Guided hikes must be booked at least one day in advance.
